Real-time analytics is the analysis of ‘live’ data to produce up-to-date and dynamic insights as events and actions are happening. This presents a number of challenges over the more traditional ‘offline’ analytics performed over historical data. The talks will provide an overview of real time analytics, a discussion of these various challenges and the technologies used to solve them and case studies from business.

Allied Irish Banks (AIB) are in the process of complementing their large-scale batch data analysis with large-scale, real-time data analysis. They have deployed Hadoop to complement their data warehouse and are beginning proof of concepts on near real-time streaming solutions such as IBM Infosphere Streams and Spark Streaming.

A number of real-time analytics deployments by AIB and CeADAR will also be presented.
